Hints of green on the trees and an abundance of sun means one thing: spring is here! Put away your sweaters and bring out your t-shirts and shorts. It is also time to think about implementing skin care changes for spring. As spring approaches and transitions to summer, you will notice an increasing amount of direct sunlight, higher temperatures, and more humidity. All these factors can have a dramatic effect on your skin. Here are some Swiss Clinique skin care tips to consider when transitioning to a spring skin care regimen.

Lighten up

When the humidity outside increases, the moisture in your skin evaporates at a lower rate than in the fall and winter, so consider switching to more lightweight products. Swiss Clinique skin care products, such as Tropical Vanilla Day Cream SPF 40, are moisturizing and packed with the broad – spectrum UVA and UVB protection you need during the spring and summer months.

Spring clean

Your spring skin care routine should still include washing away all makeup and sunscreen every day with a gentle hydrating cleanser, such as our Lemon Cleanser. Since the intensity of the sun will increase the further we get into spring, and the closer we get to summer, you will need to up your game with sunscreen. Be sure to wash it all away and reopen the pores so your skin can absorb your nighttime product(s) and heal overnight.

Protection is key

Protect your skin from intense UV rays that can cause premature aging or more severe skin problems. Dermatologists recommend using a daily sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Be sure to reapply it every 3-4 hours if you will be outdoors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for an extended time. Those with sensitive skin should use a sunblock with a higher SPF and apply the protectant every hour. Spring and summer mean more beach and pool time, so be sure to use water-resistant sunscreen if you will be in the water.

Goodbye dull and dry

The dry air of fall and winter can leave your skin dry and dull. Consider starting spring the right way with a dermaplaning or exfoliating facial treatment, such as our Diamond Glow Treatment. Luckily, it’s easier to maintain a radiant look when spring rolls around. If you want something to use at home after you clean your skin but are unsure of which option is best for you, consult with your dermatologist or consult with us for a comprehensive skin care plan after your treatment.

Get some sleep

Quality of sleep is essential! Increased temperatures outside can result in warmer temps inside. Try to keep your bedroom cool to prevent sweating during the night, which can interrupt normal sleep rhythms. Keep your sheets and pillowcases clean, as oils from your hair and skin may cause breakouts. Consider a relaxing facial or massage. Less stress in your life can improve your sleep.
